Dr. V. Thomas Dock - Dean of the College of Business Administration at TAMK

The guest speaker for the July 29 meeting was Dr. V. Thomas Dock, Dean of the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M-Kingsville.  Dr. Dock was the dean of the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (UWEC) for 18 years prior to coming to Kingsville.  While at UWEC, he oversaw the establishment of the first endowed chair, program and department advisory boards and helped raise more than $4 million in gifts and grants.

Dr. Dock spoke of his vision for the CBA and the many changes needed to get there.  In the future, the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M-Kingsville will be the only College of Business (either in state of Texas or in the Texas A&M System) to offer numerous specialties and students will have more offerings to choose from, and supplemental opportunities to distinguish themselves from graduates of other institutions.

Improvements in technology, non-traditional learning environments and changes in the leadership structure at the College of Business were some of the other topics he touched on.  With such an enormous task ahead of him, we barely scratched the surface and will need to have Dr. Dock back to update us on the progress he is making and what we can do to help surpass his ambitious goals.
