New resident conductor, Dr. Veronica Salinas will lead the KSO in its 8th season, beginning with the season opening concert on October 6th at 3:00.
Continuing with past traditions, the KSO once again is proud to have Lee Gwozdz guest conduct both the annual Children's concert on November 22 and the Holiday Extravaganza on November 23. The traditional July 4th concert will also be back, honoring our retired and active military members.
As part of their commitment to education, the KSO is teaming up with Carnegie Hall to provide local elementary school students a unique opportunity to perform with an orchestra (only 4 other Texas orchestras were invited to participate last year) . The students will be performing as part of the KSO's April concert.
Finally, the KSO is very excited to bring Byron Stripling (link to website) as the special guest artist for the season opening concert on October 6. Mr. Stripling is also the artistic director of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, leader of his own quartet, and constantly in demand to play with pops orchestras around the world. He has performed with more than 50 symphony and pops orchestras, including the Boston Pops under the direction of Keith Lockhart and John Williams, the Pittsburgh Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, National Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Utah Symphony and the Toronto Symphony.
